Dr. RAYMOND H BATE, Managing Director
Ray is Managing Director and also responsible for the
stratigraphic/biostratigraphic input of both proprietary and
non-exclusive studies. His main expertise lies in the
interpretation of non-marine and paralic depositional systems. Ray holds BSc, PhD and DSc qualifications in Geology and
Biostratigraphy from Sheffield University.
He has previously worked as
lecturer in Geology at MacMaster University, Canada; as a research scientist
at the Natural History Museum, London; Managing Director of
Stratigraphic Services International Limited; Director of Lacustrine Basin
Research Limited and now co-founder of Global Exploration Services

Dr. Enzo Zappaterra, Director
A geologist and manager with an extensive record of
experience gained through many years of hands-on
exploration as Exploration Manager, New Ventures
Coordinator, Supervisor and Team Leader with Chevron and its affiliates in
many of the world's oil basins: NW Europe/Atlantic Margin, Eastern Europe,
Mediterranean/North Africa, Middle East, West Africa, US Gulf Coast, South
America, and Southeast Asia.
Broad knowledge of all functional aspects of petroleum exploration and ability
to use information in commercial/business decisions. Proven expertise in
assessing exploration/business opportunities in frontier areas; building the
necessary industry and government relationships; following through to
accomplish company goals and objectives. Formerly a Member of the
Petroleum Group of the Geological Society of London.
Dr. Andrew Carr, Director
Andy is responsible for the promotion of his unique pressure
modelling system supported through his Pres Ro ® software
program. He is also responsible for supervising standard
geochemical technical work for GES.
Andy has a BSc in
Geology from Swansea University and a PhD in Organic Geochemistry
from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He has some 20+ years of
experience in petroleum geochemistry, largely with British Gas and latterly
with Advanced Geochemical Systems Limited until the founding of Global
Exploration Services Limited in 2000.
Tony Henshaw, Director
An energy sector professional with a geoscience background and an MBA from London Business School. Tony has board level experience for over 17 years, as CEO of a listed company for the last 5 years. Specific skills in sourcing and closing deals in the upstream oil and gas sector, both in the UK and internationally in North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle and Far East.
In the late seventies Tony was a Senior Geophysicist with Texaco North sea, moving to ExxonMobil in Houston where he played a leading role in the discovery of the Nam Phong gas field. In 1984 he moved to BP where roles included Chief Development Geophysicist (North Sea) and Deputy General Manager, Abu Dhabi assets. As a Director of Centrica Resources Ltd from 1996, Tony managed the North Sea asset base, then in 2004 became Director Gas Business Development where deals included purchase of Kerr-McGee assets for $560 million. In 2007 Tony became CEO of Exile Resources Inc. dealing in Nigeria, Zambia and Turkey. He built the team, and raised funding for the company which was listed on TSX-V, and taken over by Oando plc in 2012. Since 2013 Tony has been with Henshaw Energy Consulting, specialising in upstream, international and M&A advice.
Fuad Jawad, Business Development
Fuad Jawad is a Petroleum Geologist and a graduate of the University of Texas, USA. Working for an Affiliate of the Hunt group in Dallas, Jawad earned his spurs in the State of Oklahoma in Subsurface Structural Geology and the Science to identity Petroleum Systems. He had worked in the USA for over 20 years in different aspects of the industry, from Exploration and Exploitation of Oil & Gas fields to the marketing of Oilfield Equipment & Services. Mr. Jawad spearheaded the negotiation in the formation of several successful Joint Ventures between international Oilfield companies and government(s) & private investors in the Middle East.
Jawad also has an associate degree in Business Development. He is the Founder of PetroServ International, a company based in Cyprus, and he is the co-Founder of the National Oil & Gas Company of Lebanon (NOGCL), a privately-held company legally registered in Lebanon and licensed by the competent authority to engage in the Oil business. Both companies are dedicated to the support and development of Oil & Gas in the Levant Basin (mainly Cyprus and Lebanon) and North Africa.
Heather Birch, Associate for Marine Biostratigraphy
Heather Birch has recently joined GES as an Associate for Marine Biostratigraphy working on the analysis of Cretaceous to Recent foraminifera. Heather will be providing both stratigraphic and environmental interpretation reports relating to marine stratigraphic sequences for Clients.
She has over 10 years professional experience in the oil and gas industry as both a Biostratigrapher and Project Manager for RPS Energy and as an Environmental Scientist for Fugro Survey Ltd. Her biostratigraphic knowledge is worldwide, with particular expertise in Africa, both the East and West margins. In addition to this Heather also has extensive academic experience with a PhD in paleoclimate and paleoecology from Cardiff University and a Masters of Oceanography degree from Southampton University. Specific expertise lie in planktonic foraminiferal identification, palaeoenvironmental and geochemical analysis.
Paul Curtis Associate, petroleum geology
Paul Curtis has joined GES as Petroleum Geologist / Geomodeller with 15 years of industry experience from frontier prospect creation to brown field redevelopment in the following basins: offshore UK, Denmark, Greenland and Congo.
An expert geomodeller, Paul has worked for different types of operator; from small independent to major oil companies. Paul is a reliable and committed team player with vast experience of working closely with geophysicists, reservoir & petroleum engineers and drillers. Paul is available to undertake projects on behalf of, or within in a companies' office.
